Safe Passage Guide - Kithicor Theme

Post by zinophate »

I seem to remember their being a write up on this task on the old boards and how it was a little easier for mages to accomplish. I am finally getting around to working on progression so if any of you could provide some insight, that would be greatly appreciated.

Pull the colonel via pet, without triggering the exodus, to Kith ZL. Talk to him there to zone to kith. Update checkpoints and repeat it there.

Make sure you have pet hold, and you follow the zone wall.

Go slowly because the quest guy follows very slowly, and if you get too far ahead of him he'll pop to somewhere else in the zone along the normal path he would take.

After failing 7 or 8 bugged missions, we asked around in game how to 'cheat' this mission.
sygma from Allah wrote:Pop the 4 in the tunnel. Hail Col, but dont say 'go' to him.

Send a pet to attack him, call off pet and lead him to zoneline camp by Kith.
Dont lead him near Obliv guys. We had a bear add on him once also.
It has to be a pet, if a player agros him, he FD's and bugs mission.
Have a group memeber spam hail him when he gets to Kith, get update.
The pet-owner spam clicks a hot-key set to /say scout, he ports pet-owner, agro is cleared.
Rest of group /say scout.

In Kith, run down get the 3 updates.
Send pet on him and lead him thru Kith, again avoiding Obliv and Good guys.
Spam hail him at camp, get update.
Pet-owner has hot-key set for 'ready', ports out, clears agro and pet-owner completes mission.

Done deal, its kind of a shame that we have to resort to cheating missions because SONY fails to fix them, but if you want VoidC access and you dont want to spent hour after hour dealing with a bugged mission, this works perfectly.

Copied from write up all Alla, what I will add is this:-

I tried doing this is the "right" way, it is just too bugged and does not work so at the moment the ONLY way to do this is with a pet class. AS has already been said just take it slowly he does not move fast. Have a /say Scout and a /say Ready hotkey ready. Do NOT forget to get the location updates in Bloody Kith before you lead him off again. You can do these invis, and in fact when did I finally get the Bloody Kith bit right I just kept invis on all the way to camp and had no probelm with any agro at all. The only things you are going to have to kill are the 4 pops in the tunnel, be ready for them, they are triggered by a trap as you enter the tunnel but the trigger seemed to vary a bit for me, right near the mouth once and quite deep in a few times.

Saying that this cannot be done the 'right' way is very very wrong.

I have been doing 7 Safe Passages, all 7 of them a success, all 7 of them done by escorting and protecting the refugees. Done this in all sort of groups, so I guess people who say can't be done the right way is most likely to impatient or (sorry to say) not doing it right.

Not everyone is as lucky as you. This mission gets bugged, a lot and very easily, or it used to (haven't done it in months). I did it at least a half a dozen times and it got bugged before luckily finally completing it all the way through. I don't blame anyone for doing the work around. Wasting dozens of RL hours on what basically comes down to a coin flip if bugged or not is not fun.

I've done this mission both ways. I've succeeded in doing it the "correct" way, but have also had incredible issues with the normal approach. Mobs get infinite regen, missions randomly ending without losing a single refugee or the colonel, and other "fun". The pet pull method works, and while it may not be what Sony had intended, it remains the only way to do the mission without having to get lucky and not see a bug.

It can absolutely be done the correct way w/o a doubt. Almost positive 2 mages could duo this with mercs. But in all honesty how many people feel like spending like 2 hours on a task when a mage can get it done in like 15mins? You could be done with this whole void section and then some by the time you finish this the regular way. Think it just comes down to if you feel like wasting time or not.

correct me if I'm wrong, but an enchanter with pet disc could do it easier than a mage could because a chanter can clear agro on Colonel...

Kinda yea, but dropping agro isn't required to update any point of the task.
So not really ;)

If he wants to chase Jobober after we've won the mission, go right ahead!
