I was in beza last night and still had a difficult time targetting one of the robots from behind a garg pet due to the size of the mob and pet being the same size which was the same size as me.

Your a gnome, you are the smallest size possible. They got a shrunk already, why waste the AAs to get them shrunk even more? If you were in beza you should have had a mount up anyway.

Seems like a huge waste.

They should just be smaller. No AA needed. a 50% reduction in size would be perfect.

Moving away from gargs for a short while given the tensions that raid geared mages appear to create in some quarters (pet envy can be painful to watch) and given the obvious need for a boost to raid dps should we concentrate some of our efforts in securing a significant boost to the jolt line be it by way of an AA to increase the number of hits or a simple boost to the damage from the spell overall?

How about an additional rank of the pet focus AA for swarmers and gargs?

If the magicians going to Fan Faire can get the DEV's to answer this question, it would be huge IMO.

I am not saying we will like the answer, but if their answer is less than upper mid range, I would like the questioning to include asking the DEV's for their justification on our placement.

I'll post the answer to that exact question from every developer asked.
Just some additional ammo for you to take to Fan Faire and throw out if the DEV's won't answer what the mage roll is as far as the raid DPS game. in these post, Elidroth clearly states his opinion and also says in the thread that it is the opinion of the DEV team regarding where they feel necros should be placed in the DPS rankings.

This is from the Death Bloom thread on the SoE forums some interesting stuff if you don't mind trolling a necro thread:

Elidroth wrote:
We have no issues with you being the sustained dps leaders, and in fact that's historically what you've been, but you're able to do too much short-term damage, and then regain mana quickly enough that it doesn't impact your sustained dps in any significant manner.

The fact that you can burst too well IS the real problem. Necros should be the sustained DPS caster, but they should not be topping Wizards for short fights, which you are.

Great stuff. Gives us a nice strategy and critical information necessary for dealing with the situation.

Another item to bring up is raid event itemization...there are FAR too many weapons dropping now in say SS, the exact opposite of what used to happen. There is one, sometimes 2, melee weapons on each event - and they start rotting very fast. On the flip side you got the insanely rare pet focus ear and caster items like our shoulder item or face or weapon or fingers, which don't drop near often enough.

The fact that you can burst too well IS the real problem. Necros should be the sustained DPS caster, but they should not be topping Wizards for short fights, which you are.
Please point out also that a mage should out burst a necro also. The way it should be.

Burst - Wizard - Mage - Necro

Sustained - Necro - Mage - Wiazard

Mages historically were never the best at burst or sustained but the 2nd best at both.

It is now:

Burst - Necro - Wizard - Mage

Sustained - Necro - Mage - Wizard

and we are only 2nd on sustained if a Wizard goes OOM before us.

Svenalo, agree completly. We got lucky and had a few pet focus items drop early one, now we have gone like 4 months and the loot is almost always weapons. Even the melee classes were shocked by it and yes the weapons are rotting now.

Calebe, exactly the point/strategy we need. I was chatting with our wizzys while raiding last night and the thing is, they can beat our DPS sustained easily without using the full out burn that would cause them to go oom. That should never happen.
