You can also shroud down to get the mission, and then drop the shroud to do it. I did this about a year ago to get my stones, and got two to drop in each.

You could use the Ranger's AE root/snare spell to pull a larger number of mobs, just have to rememebr that it is not terribly long lasting on it's own, and would need to be recast periodically.

I cast Fickle regularly as part of my weave. Every other cast is Fickle because of the potential recourse effect for increased damage on the next spell. Don't know that I have used a Sands spell of any kind for a long time.

Depends on what you consider "mess up"... they do conflict, but they also do roughly the same DPS, and are mana-free.
