Crit/Flurry

Had a few people ask me this lately, it's one of those things I should know, but never really bothered to find out since it didn't affect me

How do the archetype aa's stack up against the class aa's for pet crits and flurry?

Elemental Alacrity (Class, 17 ranks) vs Companion's Alacrity (Archetype, 3 ranks)
Elemental Fury (Class, 20 ranks) vs Companion's Fury (Archetype, 3 ranks)

In a nut shell, are the archetypes worth buying before any class? First X ranks in class then archetype? Opinions or facts, whatever you wanna answer with. I have my own theory, but never tested anything.

I've wondered the same thing several times. Up to now I've been following the advice of a fellow mage and am just working on elemental alacrity and fury. Here's an aa guide (but it hasn't been updated in a looooong time so take it with a grain of salt in regards to current expenditures): http://magelythings.com/mageaa.html

If I remember correctly from the information that was posted on the old mages tower; the first 3 ranks for both class and archetype are the best to get as far as % increases. So get up to rank 3 in both, then go back and max out the class ones. (my shoddy memory wants to say it's a 2% chance for ranks 1-3 of both class and archetype, and 1% thereafter)

I've always wondered why we have 2 versions of the same thing to begin with. I read the descriptions over and over and just basically said screw it, I'll do the one that describes elemental benefits (class) first then do companion's benefits (arch) after as I'm sure I have an elemental, but companion? meh... I'll get it all eventually. That's my non-scientific rationalization. :)

So that necro's and chanters can have flurry/crit as well, but keep their %'s less than ours....In other words the archetype ranks are a base from which the individual classes build. We get 17 total ranks, necros 9, and chanters are stuck with the archetype only (if memory serves; frankly, i'm too smurf lazy this morning to look it up)

Necros get 20 class pet crit AAs, and 15 class pet flurry AAs, and the Companion AAs were given as a way for anyone who has a pet to increase its DPS.

I've salvaged the following from cached searches of the old Tower:

Elemental Alacrity 09 PetFlurryChance 44
Elemental Alacrity 10 PetFlurryChance 47
Elemental Alacrity 11 PetFlurryChance 50
Elemental Alacrity 12 PetFlurryChance 51
Elemental Alacrity 13 PetFlurryChance 52
Elemental Alacrity 14 PetFlurryChance 53
Elemental Alacrity 15 PetFlurryChance 54
Elemental Alacrity 16 PetFlurryChance 55
Elemental Alacrity 17 PetFlurryChance 56

Companion's Alacrity 1 PetFlurryChance 2
Companion's Alacrity 2 PetFlurryChance 4
Companion's Alacrity 3 PetFlurryChance 6

Although the cached record only starts with Elemental Alacrity 09, it does mean the first 8 ranks of Elemental Alacrity are up to 40/41%, making them more cost effective compared to the Companion's Alacrity line. In fact, Companion's Alacrity is only better than Elemental Alacrity after Rank 11.

For the Fury lines, I remember it was linear for both lines, i.e. Rank 1 = 1%, Rank 20 = 20%. So it's easy for you to access how far you want to invest in these two lines compared to the Alacrity lines.

did the underfoot flurry AAs just raise the chance by 1% each? same as crit?
